I’ve never been a bestselling author. What that means:
The books I’ve published didn’t sell that well. My first sold 25,000 copies. My second sold less than 10,000. My next two books were self-published and were not on any NY Times or Amazon bestseller lists.
I refuse to call myself a bestselling author when I’m NOT a bestselling author.
And since I am not a “bestselling” or “award-winning” writer, it means a lot to share the notification I got from Substack today.
Barely a month after launching Lovesplaining, I am a Substack bestseller.
But since this is my labor of love, it is SO SO validating that you have responded to my new material in this way.
Lest it go without mention, I’m well versed in failure: 12 screenplays, 15 sitcoms, 300 failed dates, a dozen different tech teams, and various bouts of crippling anxiety and insomnia in the past 30 years.
That’s why, whenever I have a small win, I take a moment to celebrate, and appreciate how rare it is.
I thank you for subscribing to Lovesplaining and hope you appreciate the small wins in your life as well.
Warmest wishes and many thanks,
Your friend,
Evan
